Calhoun County Bayfront Veterans Memorial
The six-pointed star commemorates all military branches with a "family circle" in the middle. Each star point honors veterans of that branch and the sixth star point is for the Merchant Marines. The memorial consists of 7,260 pavers and at this point 667 of them are named pavers. This memorial sits at the bayfront and is lit at all times during the night. There have been several flag retirements that have involved the Port Lavaca community schools where students were bussed from the school to the memorial to participate in the ceremony.
